I know a Seanan McGuire has a new book comming out this year but Amazon still lists it as untitled and I’m hopeful that Patricia Briggs is going to have a Mercy Thompson book out.
Burn Bright by Briggs comes out soon as well as Tricks for Free from Seanan McGuire’s InCryptid series. Both are on my lookout list.
Both of these are to be out on March 6th. Burn Bright is the latest Alpha and Omega.
I just finished the ARC of Patricia Briggs’ Burn Bright last week. It did not disappoint. I like Mercy and Adam a little better, but Charles and Anna are pretty good for an interim fix.:)
Space Opera is also on my most anticipated books of 2018 list.

Elysium Fire by Alastair Reynolds. I loved the Prefect and this looks to be a good follow on.
Martha Wells Murderbot: Rogue Protocol and Murderbot: Artificial Condition. The first one was not what I expected and delight, so I’m looking forward to seeing how she surprises me this time.
The Freeze Frame Revolution by Peter Watts. Hell, the premise alone sounds fascinating. Grim, but fascinating.
The Labyrinth Index by Charles Stross. Case Nightmare progresses…
The Good Guys by Steven Brust. This looks interesting.
Free Chocolate by Amber Royer. If it delivers on the funny, this one could be good.
Alternate Routes, by Tim Powers. A new Tim Powers!
Space Opera, by Catherynne M. Valente. If it delivers the funny, I’ll enjoy it.
Reign of the Departed, by Greg Keyes. I’ve enjoyed most of his stuff since the Black God series. I’ll take a look at least.
Embers of War, by Gareth L. Powell This looks like it could be good.
Two I missed
The Armored Saint by Myke Cole caught my attention after reading a sample chapter at not.
Summerland by Hannu Rajaniemi when the British Empire establishes control in the afterlife, the spies follow. I’m not sold on the concept, but Rajaniemi has got a lot of credit with me thanks to the Jean Flambeur trilogy.

The Million by Karl Schroeder. After the Virga series and Lockstep, I’ll turn up because he has consistently interesting ideas.
State Tectonics (The Centenal Cycle) by Malka Older (Kindle Edition). Ok, I want to see how this wraps up.
The Expert System’s Brother by Adrian Tchaikovsky. Sign me up! Shadows of the Apt got me interested and Children of Time sealed the deal. And how did he have so many books come out while my back was turned?
And another – one I think a fair number of folks will want to see.

I don’t know anything about this series, Maria.
I’m only waiting for paperbacks, so that narrows it down somewhat. Volume 3 of Monstress by Marjorie Liu and Sana Takeda tops the list. Also looking forward to Volume 2 of Black Magick. I’m hoping that “Season 2” of The Witch Who Came In From The Cold makes it to paperback (instead of just Kindle), but that’s probably not a sure thing. Also Fair Rebel, the new Fourlands book by Steph Swainston. And, of course, Rogue Protocol and Artificial Condition by Martha Wells. I would really like it if Rosemary Kirstein’s next Steerswoman book came out this year, also The Broken Heavens by Kameron Hurley, and Scott Lynch’s The Thorn of Emberlain, but those are all iffy as of today. Waiting for a lot of books in hardcover to get paperback editions, like Ruthanna Emrys’s Winter Tide and the last couple of Stross Laundry books.
I am eagerly awaiting Volume Three of Monstress.
Not sure if thete’s an Expanse novel expected this year, but would top my list!
Also pre-ordered Gareth Powell’s EMBERS OF WAR, start of a new space opera trilogy. Scalzi rarely disappoints, so HEAD-ON looks good. Anything from Lois McMaster Bujold, who keeps surprising with her Penric novellas.
Expanse 8 is tentatively scheduled for Dec last I saw
I couldn’t find anything on 8, but Goodreads shows the final novella as this year. Amazingly consistent quality these guys bring!
I’ve already read The Night Masquerade, and I’m looking forward to the Bolander, Newman, and Goss titles, and of course anything in the Expanse series. I’m also looking forward to Martha Wells’ follow-ups to All Systems Red, So Lucky by Nicola Griffith, City of Lost Fortunes by Bryan Camp, Revenant Gun by Yoon Ha Lee, plus one that came out last month but I don’t have it yet – The Will to Battle by Ada Palmer.
The Nicola Griffith I’m waiting for is the sequel to HILD. This one looks good too, though! Nice to see her name pop up once in a while!
I love that “Moons Of Barsk” cover–I’m adding it to “my list”! …Hm, a more conventional but exciting cover is on the book “Unearthed,” which sounds so good–I hope it’s not too ya-y.
I’m avid to read the graphic novels about English undergraduate life, “Giant Days,” someday–but it’s like a zillion volumes and the price adds up and adds up. I haven’t even read all of insanely wonderful Moebius yet!

Iron Gold and Grey Sister BIG TIME!
I’m most looking forward to and had already ordered Lawrence Schoen’s THE MOONS OF BARSK, John Scalzi’s HEAD ON, and Bradley Beaulieu’s A VEIL OF SPEARS. I hadn’t heard of THE BRASS GOD before this post, but it looks interesting so I ordered it too.
I am looking forward to The Veil of Spears! I love the series a lot, and am halfway through the second book, and am so glad that there are 6 books and not just 3!
The Monster Baru Cormorant by Seth Dickinson, because the first one was an absolute masterpiece and I can’t wait to see how the second one destroys my heart–er, I mean, moves Baru’s story forward.
I’m looking forward to the paperback of Tigerheart’s Shadow by Erin Hunter.
I can’t wait for Jeff VanderMeer’s The Strange Bird to be released print!
What I’m most looking forward to is The StoryTeller: Fairies.

I’ve been desperately waiting for The Queen of Sorrow to come out since I read the first two last year!
