World of Warcraft: Not just for teenage boys: Last month, researchers from North Carolina State University reported that playing WoW boosts cognitive functioning for older adults — particularly those who scored poorly on cognitive ability tests before playing the game. The paper was published in the journal Computers in Human Behavior.

Mind wandering while you work? You must be smart!: Researchers at University of Wisconsin–Madison reported last week that people with better working memory report more daydreaming and mind-wandering while completing a simple task. The researchers suggest that people with large amounts of working memory are more successful at multi-tasking.
